About American Culture Club

American Culture Club is an independent digital magazine covering Ideas, Society, History, Culture and Art. Arguments about what the country means rarely arrive settled. It is part of VUGA Network, a group of independent digital publications published in the United States.

The house form is the profile. A writer sits with a subject over weeks, checks the record behind the claims, and comes back with something that has a spine rather than a summary. Publicity calendars do not set the schedule here. Expect work that names its sources and leaves the disagreement visible on the page.

What We Cover

Culture carries the criticism and the longer profiles.

Ideas takes up the intellectual history underneath them, tracing arguments back to the books, essayists and movements that produced them, then testing how well those arguments hold up now — written for anyone who reads philosophy or political theory without needing a seminar to make sense of it.

Society reports how Americans actually live alongside one another, from congregations and unions to block associations and school boards: which shared institutions are holding, which are emptying out, and what replaces them.

History goes back far enough to explain why the current arrangement exists, working from archives, monuments and correspondence, with detail preferred to a moral delivered in advance.

Culture News keeps the running record of institutions, prizes, appointments and closures, while Business News follows the cultural economy — endowment returns, ticketing revenue, donor conditions and payroll — explaining who pays and what that purchase buys.

Celebration copy, unreported opinion, and endings tidy enough to flatter everyone in them are turned down.
